The news

Google announced new Gemini tools for small business owners on 20 October 2026. The Gemini app gets a business landing page where owners can build their brand, analyse their finances and understand their customers in one place. Google says the tools are rolling out worldwide to all Gemini app users over the following days.

Owners can save a brand style by uploading their website, a brand kit, fonts or colour palettes, and Gemini keeps it for later requests. With Nano Banana 2.1, Google's newest image model, it makes visuals for product launches and campaigns in that style. For finances, Gemini turns spreadsheets, receipts and purchase records into charts and interactive models.

Gemini can connect to Google Business Profile, Google Ads and Google Workspace, and to Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, Shopify, Wix, Zoho and Xero. Google's post does not say what each connection can read or change, and it gives no prices or plans. Larger businesses that need central admin controls and data governance are pointed to Google's enterprise offering, Gemini Enterprise, instead.

What it means for you

  • Where the connections allow it, a shop owner can ask one assistant about the store, the accounts and the ads without exporting files first.
  • Connecting a store or accounting app gives Gemini your customer and financial data, so it matters which Google account and which Gemini service you use.
  • Google's post gives no accuracy figures for the finance tools, and AI can get numbers wrong.

What to do now

  1. Try it first with an exported spreadsheet instead of connecting live systems.
  2. Before you connect Shopify or Xero, read what access the connection asks for and decide who in your team can use it.
  3. Check any figure Gemini gives you against your accounting system before you act on it.
  4. If your team needs admin controls, look at Gemini Enterprise rather than the personal app.
