The news
Odoo presented Odoo 20, the new major version of its business software, at the Odoo Experience conference in Brussels on 24 September 2026. The release notes cover accounting, inventory, manufacturing, sales, point of sale, HR and the website builder.
The largest change is in AI. Odoo's AI agents can now create and update records, work with uploaded files and run inside automations, and outside AI tools can connect to an Odoo database through MCP. The release notes say all AI features now need credits, which are bought separately through Odoo's in-app purchases. On Odoo's pricing page, agentic AI is part of the Custom plan, not the Standard plan.
Users can now create, edit, archive and delete records while offline. In accounting, parent accounts replace account groups, bills can be paid from Odoo through a bank payment initiation service, and two payment statuses were renamed: "Paid" is now "Reconciled", and "In Process" is now "Paid". Odoo has also discontinued the Field Service app and moved its features into Planning, and SOFORT is no longer available as a payment method.
In inventory, Odoo adds a stock aging report and reordering levels suggested from demand history, and all manufacturing orders now use flexible consumption by default.
What it means for you
- If your team uses AI in Odoo, it now has a running cost: every AI feature draws on credits you buy.
- An upgrade changes how your accounts are grouped and what payment statuses are called, so reports, exports and integrations that read them may need changes.
- Businesses that use Field Service will find its features in Planning after the upgrade.
What to do now
- Test the upgrade on a copy of your database before moving your live company to Odoo 20.
- Tell your accounts team about the new payment status names, and check the reports and connections that use them.
- Check your AI credit balance and decide who in your team may run AI agents.
