The news
In its product update for October 2026, published on 2 November, HubSpot said that on 7 December 2026 it will remove registered phone numbers from France, Australia, Belgium and Brazil from customer accounts and block outbound calls from them, citing carrier rules. The change applies to calling in Sales Hub and Service Hub on the Starter, Professional and Enterprise plans.
A registered number is an existing office or mobile line that a sales or support rep verifies so it shows as the caller ID when they call from HubSpot. It is used for outbound calls only. HubSpot's help pages already warned about these countries: France reserves 06 and 07 numbers for personal use, and HubSpot says business calls should use 09 numbers. Belgian operators block calls from abroad that show a Belgian number, Brazil stopped outbound calls from registered +55 numbers in November 2024 under Anatel rules, and calls to Telstra customers in Australia may fail. HubSpot says registered numbers are more likely to be marked as spam because its carrier, Twilio, does not own them.
HubSpot's help pages list two other ways to call: a number provided by HubSpot, which needs a one-time check of your business identity and, in some countries, a local address, or a calling app from the HubSpot App Marketplace that uses your current phone provider. HubSpot's note does not say whether the numbers it provides in these countries are affected, and it gives no link or step-by-step guide.
What it means for you
- If your reps in France, Australia, Belgium or Brazil call customers from HubSpot with their own verified office or mobile number, those calls stop on 7 December.
- The rule follows the number, not where the team sits: a team outside these countries that uses a French, Belgian, Australian or Brazilian number is affected too.
- Once you switch, customers will see a new caller number, and fewer of them may answer at first.
What to do now
- In HubSpot's calling settings, note which users call from a registered number from France, Australia, Belgium or Brazil.
- Before 7 December, give them a number provided by HubSpot or connect a calling app that uses your current phone provider. Leave time for the business identity check.
- In France, use a 09 number for business calls, as HubSpot's help page advises, not an 06 or 07 mobile number.
- Tell your regular customers and add the new number to your email signatures and website, so they recognise the call.
- Make a few test calls after the switch and check that each call is still logged on the right contact.
